Fashion Inhalings #1

So for my first blog report I wanted to write about my recent encounters with fashion. So think of going to museums, reading magazines, watching shows online, shopping, fashion content on social media and much more. I’m calling these reports ‘fashion inhalings’. I don’t really care if it’s grammatically incorrect, it sounds clever and fun!

Paris

I just came back from Paris a few days ago and let me tell you this, I loveeeee Paris. The people are so cool, I can wear whatever I want and feel comfortable walking down the street, and omg the architecture is amazing! Also as a gay person I felt so save there, especially in Le Marais, there’s a gay person everywhere you look and that’s just the best feeling ever. Highly recommend Paris!

Now let’s get into my fashion inhalings in Paris, first of all just looking around and scanning peoples outfits is already such a fun game to do. I’ll put on some music, walk around and just give peoples outfits a yes or a no. Do I look like I’m judging people? Yes! Is it a fun game? Also yes!

Another obvious fashion inhale is a literal inhale, cigarette smoke. I smoked like a chimney just like everybody else in Paris and I enjoyed every minute of it. Nothing beats sitting by the Seine, drinking a red bull, smoking a couple cigarettes and enjoying the sun.

A more obvious fashion inhale is shopping, whenever I go to Paris I return with a couple magazines, some cute clothes and a vape. I love shopping in Paris especially going by those thrift shops, I found a denim blazer that has that buttoned to the top skinny model fit. Also found a fun light-blue blouse that has a unique collar which I really liked. I also bought some basics for the summer, and this really fun blue and white striped jacket for the summer.

Alright now I’m going to tell you about a weirder way I inhale fashion, and to be honest one of my favourite things to do. Just keep in mind, I am not rich and kind of a dreamer. For those who don’t know there’s a roundabout in Paris which has a couple of streets filled with designer stores. I would put on a song like La Maritza or Glory Box, look fashionable and kind of chic. And I’d start window-shopping and looking at all the amazing clothes and again give them a yes or a no. However I would not only do that, I would dream/imagine myself being able to go into a Versace store and enjoy a glass of champagne, or walk into a YSL store and buy a beautiful trench coat. God I love trench coats. Anyways, I think I do that, so a fire get’s lit under my ass and I remind myself why I should work as hard as I can.

Okay, this fashion inhale is a little more normal and relatable. It’s going to museums, I planned this whole trip because there was a Dolce and Gabanna exposition at the Grand Palais with I think 200 (!!!!) pieces. So it’s Friday, I go to the Grand Palais, and I see this huge crowd at the side entrance. I go online to see if there are tickets available, not a single ticket available for the whole three days I was there. I wanted to die, well not really but it was kind of disappointing. Anyways another exposition that wasn’t packed was the Azzedine Alaïa Foundation. This exposition is so good, I have already been there once back in November and enjoyed it a lot. But this time it was even better, they displayed not only Alaïa but also Mugler. They paired archivel pieces and displayed them in these futuristic casing, very beautiful. My favourite was a black Mugler open-back dress, with flowers hanging out the back, it was stunning. What really stuck with me were the techniques that were used on some of them, you’d look at a piece and wonder: How did they do that? One thing I really like about this place is that it’s never really busy, it has this calm vibe which is perfect if you need a second to calm down from all the busyness on the Parisian streets.

Sadly, I’m back in the Netherlands right now but I’ll definitely be returning soon! Thank you for reading my first ever post, have a nice day!

Dion,
